Do you remember the last time you had
a tune running through your head for days on end?

What started off as a catchy, memorable melody probably ended up as a mind-numbing tinkle with which you were so familiar that you never wanted to hear it again. We like what is different, we like what is new and fresh.

This implies that the Christian message is bland and worn because it is a 2000 year old message.

However, we at NorthLight want to say that, despite its age, the message of Jesus does not stop it from being ‘news’, even ‘good news’.

We believe it is good news, that God did not watch us from a distance but was pleased, as man, with man to dwell.
We believe it is good news that he swapped his throne with a manger lowly.
We believe it is good news that he was born that man no more may die, born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.
We believe it is good news that he came and died for us so that God and sinners are reconciled.
We believe it is good news that our neglect of God, did not equate to his neglect of us.
We believe that forgiveness of sins is good news.
We believe it is good news that we shall see him, but in heaven set at God’s right hand on high.

We think this kind of news, is missing in our world, and so the Christmas message is music to our ears. It really is tidings of comfort and joy!

Our hope is that today you will agree with us that the Christmas tune is worth hearing, worth remembering, and is especially worth singing each and every day of the year.
