Giving to the work of the Church and beyond

We continue to thank God for the generosity of you, his people, in making our ministry possible. We do not receive any government or diocesan support, and we are therefore responsible for funding our ministry endeavours from our members. We do not take your generosity for granted, and we give thanks for you regularly.

There are many ways to give to Northlight, including via:

  1. Direct deposit to

    Account name: NorthLight Anglican Church
    Bank: Westpac
    BSB: 032-281
    Account number: 810320

    2. Cash offerty at church on a Sunday

  1. Debit/Credit Card using Square (click here)

  1. Direct Debit using AFSA

  2. Leaving a gift in your will

  3. NorthLight's PayID: 79 227 325 114

NorthLight's Mission Partners

As a church we have committed to supporting a number of ministries outside of NorthLight. Each year we aim to give more to these ministries (details are in the weekly church email) at a rate greater than the growth of our own budget. That is, we are trying to be increasingly generous ahead of our own needs. Nevertheless, you are encouraged to add extra and direct support of our mission partners through their host organisations.

Designated mission partner support

Most of our mission partners can be supported financially by giving directly to them, and for some of them you are able to receive tax deductibility if you do so. However, we also support our partners from church funds, and you are therefore able to direct your giving through North Light.

The offertory envelopes provide a simple means of designating a specific mission partner to whom your gifts should be directed. If you use the envelopes, simply write the name of the mission partner on the “Beyond the parish” side of the envelope and money will be directed to that partner. Please note, however, that we only accept gifts for our formal mission partners; if you wish to support another mission, we ask that you make your own arrangements for this.

If you wish to use direct giving into the Westpac account, you can also designate that your gift is used to support a mission partner. The reference details for each transaction should be very clear to ensure your gift goes to where it is intended.

Undesignated mission support

You may also choose to support our mission partners more generally, rather than directing your gift to a specific organisation or individual. The same three methods as outlined above can be used; however, you should just indicate “Mission”.

Mission support from North Light offertories

North Light sets aside a specific amount each year from general offertories for support of mission partners; in 2024, this is $97,000. Our policy is to increase this amount each year by a percentage greater than our offertory increase. This is in addition to any gifts given specifically for mission.

A formula is used to allocate percentages of the total to our various partners, so each partner receives:

  • any gifts specifically designated for them

  • a specified fraction of the amount allocated from general offertories

  • the same specified fraction of undesignated mission gifts received.

As an example, mission partner A might receive $1,000 in designated gifts, and the fraction allocated to them might be 10% of the amount from general offertories and 10% of undesignated mission gifts. If we receive $1,000 in undesignated mission gifts and have allocated a total of $50,000 from general offertories, then this partner would receive:

  • $1,000 from designated gifts

  • $100 from undesignated gifts

  • $5,000 from general offertories.
